Moving Away From Cable TV
I’ve been itching to get away from Comcast for quite a while. The issue is they suck you in with their bundles that include voice, internet, and cable TV service. When you try to remove one of these, you miss out on the savings of the package.
But the cable TV service just has to go, as the channel selection and quality is well below par. With so much discussion these days about hi def, there just wasn’t much of that with Charter Cable. So I began doing a little research on who else was providing service in my neck of the woods.
I happen to be one of the folks who have been given a couple of options. Unlike a few people who can only choose from just the cable company or dish television, I have another provider in this area. The phone company in this neighborhood has been altering their network. So there is another consideration with U-verse from AT&T.
That doesn’t mean of course I won’t have the same problems. It could put me in the same situation as with the cable television company, because telephone company want me to package their television service with high speed and voice service. If the deal works out well, customers will be happy. Then again if the service is poor you are in the same circumstance that I’m in now with the cable operator.
The evaluations I found on the internet are fairly good on telecom TV service. Of course it is new, there is always a learning curve with a service like this, and some people share their poor reviews. Those reviews are the funny, because customers decide to write a dissertation on their poor experience and share it on the internet. Unhappy customers rail on the company like it is some giant conspiracy to make the customer unhappy, like the company doesn’t want to make money!
Another way to go that I am seriously considering is of course satellite television. Since we have four television viewers in our house, we have subscribed in the past to a high end TV package. The satellite companies seem to be fairly comparable, as the Premier Direct TV package and the DISH Network America’s everything package are each about $105 a month. Yes that’s pretty high for cable TV, but if you make the comparison with taking your family to supper and a show, the entertainment value is comparable.
