The name tri-fold futon frames comes from these three sections that perform the movement. We make frames by using back and seat section with metal rails. Some are made completely from wood while some other frames are made using a combination of wood and metal seat/back sections.
There are plenty of different designs that are used for arms and a lot of different wood types and finishes you can choose from. Picking the right futon frame will ensure that you enjoy years of use with a quality constructed frame.
The second part of a futon is the mattress. Duck twin coverings were encasing cotton batting in the first days of a futon mattress. A lot of it changed and the design is improved compared to models being made 20 years ago. You can find a lot of models that include memory foam mattresses, innerspring coils, high density foams and new blends of batting.
