The Fusion Hybrid - Smart and Fuel Efficient
With the demise of the defunct Ford Taurus, there has been a gaping hole in Ford’s midsized line-up which Toyota and honda just love to see.The Ford Fusion has been around since 2006 but is now modified with the new Hybrid power plant system from Ford. Ford officially released the Fusion Hybrid recently at the Los Angeles Auto Show late in 2008.The new Ford Fusion recieves some of the best in-town gas mileage, that only a hybrid can get.Driving the Fusion Hybrid around town will net you over 40 miles per gallon which far outshines the Camry and even the fuel efficient civic hybrid.Without any help from the internal combustion engine, the electric engine can push the Fusion up to 47 MPH.A bunch of Car Prublications have used this method to get greater fuel economy than the EPA estimates.
Using new technology, the Fusion can inform drivers which driving style is best for fuel economy.The Smart Gauge is a set of gauges built into the display. There are 2 LCD screens located one on each side of the speedo which display 4 different information screens.The 1st display tells the power left in the battery packs and the remaining amount of fuel. The second data screen adds an electric vehicle mode indicator and RPM Tach. The third screen displays engine and battery output power.The last data screen displays power to the wheels and additional accessory power consumption.Knowledge centers in the Fusion have data that consists of Miles Per Gallon, fuel efficiency report, travel chart, and changes in radiator temperatures.Real time Mile Per Gallon information lets the driver know which driving style gains best fuel economy.
The navigation system also houses the Hybrid Energy Flow Display.This display will exhibit the five modes of the Hybrid Pwer Train in cluding things like the regenerative braking, the elestric engine boost, and various hybrid and electric drive systems, and finally the charge while at idle.
Pretty much all hybrids are considered Eco friendly but it is the Fusion that goes one step farther by using reclaimed fabric to make the interior.Toyota and Honda have been selling thousands of hybrids per year unchallanged, better late than never with Ford.
